This drink takes all that’s good about the classic and makes it even better for an aperitif that serves as your loyal companion for any occasion. The Kentucky Coffeetree was discovered by America’s early settlers, and they noticed its seeds had a striking resemblance to coffee beans. Once roasted, the coffeetree seeds were consumed as a substitute whenever supply was running short. Here’s our cocktail reimagining those elements in a glass.
AROMA: Toasted coconut, coffee, and spices
FLAVOR: Bittersweet notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and a light oily coconut finish
- 1.5oz Kentucky Coffee Whiskey
- 0.25oz Italian Aperitif [Aperol]
- 0.5oz Coconut-Sweet Vermouth
- Garnish: Orange Slice & Ground Coffee
- Glassware: Large Rocks Glass

HOW TO MAKE THIS DRINK
Add ingredients into a mixing glass over fresh ice.
Stir ingredients with a barspoon until chilled.
Strain into a large Rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Garnish with a thin orange slice and a pinch of ground coffee.
